Valery Gergiev has just been announced as the Artist of the Year in Classica Magazine (France). There was a second surprise at the award ceremony this week, when the Mariinsky label's first DVD/Blu-Ray release of Tchaikovsky's Symphonies Nos 4, 5 & 6 was awarded a Choc de L'Année (Disc of the Year).
